Aislinn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a BA in Psychology from Wake Forest University and a Master's Degree in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill. After four years of post-Master's practice as a therapist, Aislinn elected to deepen her skill set and contributions to her field by pursuing a Ph.D. in Clinical Social Work through Smith College. Aislinn is now in the dissertation phase of this degree. Aislinn has maintained a part-time therapy practice throughout her doctoral training, appreciating how clinical work and research inspire and strengthen one another.
As a member of Charlottesville Psychological Associates, Aislinn offers individual psychotherapy for clients 13 years of age and older.
Aislinn has training and experience in several psychotherapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed care. Pulling from each as appropriate, Aislinn strives to understand and support each client in a way that is individualized, not rigid or formulaic. Aislinn's areas of clinical interest include depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, sadness, loneliness, self-esteem and body-image issues, relationship challenges, self-harming and suicidal thoughts, and more.
Aislinn aims to help people of all identities and backgrounds feel welcome in her office. She learns a great deal from each client and encourages open discussion of how intersecting social identities and life experiences impact the therapeutic work together. Aislinn views psychotherapy as a collaborative process, encouraging each client to take an active role in the pursuit of understanding and growth.
Aislinn is in-network with Anthem and Aetna insurances. Clients may also pay out-of-pocket. Aislinn is open to negotiating out-of-pocket fees under certain circumstances.
