Prior to joining Charlottesville Psychological Associates in 2000, Ms. Minter practiced locally and in the Shenandoah Valley.  She has over 30 years of experience with families, couples, individuals and children in a variety of community and in-patient mental health settings. She additionally developed and implemented a successful community program for the mentally ill; served as Director of Social Work at Western State Hospital; was Clinical Supervisor in a drug rehabilitation program; and  provided clinical supervision for the Graduate School of Social Work, Virginia Commonwealth University, and for the Counseling Program at Old Dominion University.

Ms. Minter received her Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1979, and her certification as an Imago Relationship Therapist from the Imago Relationship International Institute in 2000. She has had extensive advanced training through IRII, including certification as a Workshop Presenter for the 20-hour “Getting the Love You Want” Couples’ Workshops.  Additionally, she has presented numerous workshops to professionals about couples therapy, and has consulted with small businesses and non-profits regarding communication in the workplace.

“I believe good relationships are the key to a satisfying life. Early on I decided I wanted to focus on this for my life’s work and have spent my professional career working with individuals and families in a variety of settings.  As a result, and in combination with personal life events, I have come to appreciate the importance and the complexity of being in good relationship with self and others. I also have seen how our committed relationships can be a path to wholeness.”
