Emily Ludwig, Psy.D., is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She provides empirically-supported therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Problem Solving Therapy (PST), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) and other Mindfulness-Based therapeutic approaches. Dr. Ludwig strives to help clients learn to live consistently and authentically through introspection, realistic goal setting, and skill building. She believes that therapeutic work begins by creating an alliance with her clients, where there is discussion and mutual agreement upon goals before setting out on the therapeutic journey as a team.

Dr. Ludwig specializes in assisting adults (18+) and older adults (65+) with:

• Chronic pain (neuroplastic, following injury, TMS, complex regional pain, etc.)
• Overcoming insomnia
• Managing chronic health conditions
• Coping with life transitions (retirement, divorce, etc.)
• Stress management
• Depression and anxiety
• Engaging in health behaviors (self-care, managing weight, increasing physical activity)

Dr. Ludwig graduated with Honors in Psychology from Christopher Newport University. She obtained her Master’s and Doctorate from Radford University, and completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, VA. Dr. Ludwig’s training has focused on mental health integration within medical settings such as hospitals, primary care clinics, and pain clinics. Her professional career began as a Staff Psychologist at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, VA. Since then, she has provided individual mental health services to older adults residing in nursing homes, individuals suffering from chronic pain at a pain management and orthopedic surgical center, and most recently to the general public through a community outpatient practice.

Dr. Ludwig is currently in-network with Anthem, Aetna, Medicare, Optum, and Optima. Private pay also available.
