Virginia Cox Evans, LCSW

Virginia Cox Evans is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been practicing counseling and psychotherapy since 1990. She provides individual, couple, marital, family and group therapy. Virginia graduated from the College of William and Mary with a BA in French and her MSSW from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville. She also taught French, German and Latin at Kentucky Country Day School and coached field hockey and track in Louisville.

Virginia is a Founding Fellow for the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and has been a primary therapist in 2 CBT studies for the National Institute of Mental Health. She owns and directs the Pathways Center for Eating Disorders and looks forward to integrating her practice in the Charlottesville community. As a seasoned clinician, Virginia has worked inpatient, in community mental health agencies and in private practice. She collaborates with physicians, dieticians and other mental health professionals. Virginia was the former director of EAP at Martha Jefferson Hospital when she lived in Charlottesville in the 1990’s before returning to Louisville.

Besides utilizing a CBT approach, Virginia integrates other strategies in helping her clients actualize their full potential. From adolescence to later life years, Virginia helps clients improve their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Her goal is to provide support and strategies to cope with life stressors in a nurturing and accepting environment. Virginia will work with you to enhance your self-awareness, relationship skills, reduce your anxiety and negative thinking, and improve your mood and energy. Areas of interest include:
